Week of 3/9: Bantu Education

Bantu Education was the government organization that was in charge of the education of black South Africans. Beginning in 1953, Bantu Education worked to ensure that blacks receive the education necessary for their "rightful place" in South African society-- as servants and manual laborers. The ideals behind Bantu Education were rooted in the long-held belief that it was the duty of whites to "civilize and Christianize" native Africans. Full article here:
